(1.21.2012)
Our first and only snow storm of 2012 and I am not complaining about that! This winter has consisted of 40-50 degree temps and while I am ALWAYS cold I know that we've had a VERY mild winter. The person who is complaining or at least sad is Mikayla. We made a snowman kit at MOPS and she received snow shoes and a sled for Christmas and then we don't get any snow! Thankfully we did get one little storm so far and thankfully I convinced myself to take the kids outside. Brian had focus groups for church the entire day so it was up to me to take both kiddies outside AND shovel. And I did it! I know pride isn't a good quality, but I was a teeny bit proud of myself. While Caden was taking his morning nap I bundled up Mikayla and she had a blast making snow angels and snow shoeing. I then shoveled our entire driveway. I was feeling a little guilty because last year we had a RIDICULOUS amount of snow and Brian had to shovel ever single snow flake since I was largely pregnant. So I decided that I would take care of this snow... no snow blower, just me and a good ole shovel! I am very thankful that it was only 6 inches of very light, fluffy snow and I am very thankful that our wonderful neighbor came snow blowed (not really word but not sure what you call it ;)) our very long sidewalk! I was pooped! I then was even more crazy and when Caden woke up I bundled both of them and ventured out again with both kids... yikes! Poor Caden couldn't even move in all those layers and since he can't walk yet what fun is being in the snow when you physically cannot move! I did get a few pictures of some smiles but we didn't last very long! Overall I was glad that I did venture out even though staying inside was definitely the easier option! It also felt good to accomplish a big task such as shoveling the whole driveway. And since we haven't gotten any snow since I'm glad Mikayla got some time in the snow even though we still haven't gone sledding yet or made a snowman. Maybe March will bring about some more snow :)
