Mother Nature's Confusion

October 29, 2011... remember that date as the day New Jersey got snow before Iowa :)  They predicted snow and based on past experiences we didn't believe the weather people.  They actually got it right this time!  I remember talking with my father-in-law on the phone while he was in Minnesota not wearing a coat.  Very strange to be on this end of the spectrum... we are usually the ones saying "oh it's 50 degrees here and sunny" while Brian's family says it's in the single digits and there's snow.  I have to admit it was kind of fun at first and very pretty.  Mikayla of course was so excited to see and experience the snow.

Then we started hearing loud crashes and realized that the big, beautiful snowflakes landing on our full, fall trees were creating a problem... a big problem!

I'll admit it got a little frightening at times knowing we have a very large, very old tree right next to our family room.  We decided early in the day to keep the kids out of that room and played in the dining room instead where we knew there was a second floor to keep us safe.  We cancelled church the next day and we spent the morning dragging very large branches to the curb and assessing the damage.  We made out pretty good by only have a gutter bent and a fence broken.  And like normal in New Jersey the snow melted before you knew it and we haven't had any since!

Oh and I have officially discovered that I am addicted to the Internet.  I went into withdrawal and was VERY happy to get it back a week and a half later!
