December 3
Our annual trip to Kuperus Farms in Sussex, NJ!  I cannot remember a Christmas without our voyage up north to get the perfect Christmas tree and I am now very thankful that I can pass this tradition on to our kids as well.  There is something about standing in the cold surrounded by the smell of freshly cut trees, examining tree after tree to  find the right one.  This year it was nice to have my brother and his family with us as well.  It turned out to be the perfect spot for our family Christmas card picture. We warmed up afterwards by going to my grandparents house for pizza.

Brian was in charge of the lights, I was the photographer, Mikayla was in charge of ornaments and Caden was our project manager, "yelling" instructions to us :)

The glow of the lights and the aroma of the tree made this my favorite room for the month of December!

On January 2 we took down the tree since it had long stopped taking water and needles were falling at an alarming rate.  Mikayla was sad to it go but we assured her that Mr. RJ (our DPW man) was taking it to the park for the birds to make nests in.  She thought that was a great idea and was thrilled when she watched him pick it up the next day and put it in the truck.

I am looking forward to continuing our tradition next year.
