Happy Birthday... Santa?
Since Christmas has taken over the stores I figured it was time to talk about the real meaning of Christmas with Mikayla. She is beginning to understand holidays so I thought this year we could really share the Christmas story with her. I wondered how much she remembered from last year so I asked her whose birthday we celebrated on Christmas. She answered... "Santa"... oh boy! While this would be funny yet embarrassing for most people, coming from a preacher's kid (I don't normally use this label on my kids because I want them to have their own identities other than their dad's job) I realized I should probably fix this. So began "Project Baby Jesus". We then read the Christmas story several times from her Bible and other stories that we have. So later in the day I asked her again whose birthday is on Christmas (to see if my little project was a success) and she said, "Jesus! SHE was a little baby." Thus begins "Project Baby Jesus Was a Boy" :)

LOVE this! Had to laugh outloud! Then I went into my attic to try and find our advent book, but can't find it and I am so not ready to haul all the Christmas stuff out. BUT I remember Jenny being Mikayla's age, and having the same "issue," and went to CBD.com and bought a book that breaks down every day of December with a part of the Christmas story, a short piece of the verse, and an EASY craft or "thing to do." We still use this book every Christmas! Wise investment, especially for a PK ;) Glad you wrote this down, these are the things we can easily forget in the business of the season!
