Houston, I've Got A Problem

I'm in trouble, I've lost my mind, I need an intervention.  DIY.  Do It Yourself.  NOT a good idea!  But it seems I've caught this feverish idea that I can make anything I want, out of anything, anytime.  Problem is, I can't!  I'm not crafty enough or creative enough and here I sit with a dozen projects floating around in my head ready to bust out.  I'm not sure how this has happened.  I don't watch decorating shows, I don't have a Pinterest account, and I've never made anything!  I don't sew, I don't cut wood, even painting is sketchy.  And yet I am OBSESSED!  I've decided that I need to do a few things around this house.  I'm not sure why.  First, I need to convert a dresser into a TV stand.  Why?  Do we have a TV stand?  Yes.  Is it functional?  Yes.  The problem is it's actually a TV stand and apparently that's boring now.  So now I have this ridiculous idea that I need to do this to make our family room better.  I think it started with getting a "new" couch and I'm finally happy about being able to decorate that room without the hideous mauve couch.  So I Googled it and I found this awesome blog that gives step by step instructions!  Easy Peasy.  Problem is I'll probably get overwhelmed half way through sawing the legs off and need Brian to help and he thinks our TV stand is just fine, which it is.  Then I decided that I need to paint the bulletin boards that are in our desk.  Why?  I don't know!  I recently put nice fabric over them and now that's no longer acceptable.  So now I have 3 pieces all painted different colors because I can't decide which one I like.  This of course required a 8am trip to the hardware store because it needed to be done TODAY!  I bought new brown bins for the same desk because... well I don't know why.  Then I research contact paper for the backs of the open shelves in this same desk.  I'm OUT OF CONTROL!  I've made a list of items I need to buy when I get to a craft store.  Apparently my home is not complete without a twine wrapped letter for my front door and a moss covered letter for my family room.  What's the deal with letters?  Want a pistachio nut flower something or other?  I've got a blog that will show you how!  Wouldn't it be fun to make all Christmas gifts?  Sigh.  This DIY fever has led to flat out decorating fever.  My beige bedspread is horrible now.  So I narrowed down choices for a new one to 6.  Brian doesn't like any of them because ours is still fine, he's right.  So we've compromised and I'm researching throw pillows to add color.  That leads to a different throw blanket, lampshades, pictures, why not throw a chair in there too!  I got rid of our bed skirt because they're not cool anymore.  Problem was now you can see the box spring.  Back online I went and had to take the whole mattress off the bed and put a fitted sheet over the box spring to cover it.  Now you can see our ugly plastic bins under the bed.  Solution, use the drawers from previously mentioned dresser and attach wheels to them and viola, "cute" storage bins.  Again, what is wrong with me?  I need help!!!  Deep breaths, deep breaths.  There are a million other things to be blogging about, like the all the things my adorable children have done in the past 2 months, and here I sit try to keep my hands occupied from researching any other DIY projects.  Okay, not sure what to say now except maybe this just confirms that I have some OCD tendencies (or ACDC, right Mom?  Sorry, I HAD to :)).  Well, not sure this is really going to stop me from attempting any of these things, but if you see Brian hang his head and sigh, you now know why :)

  1. Doesn't sound like too much of a problem...sounds like fun. :) And it also sounds like you are exiting the baby phase and have more time on your hands!
